Chaplains

Your chaplains are trained to give support in times of challenge and joy.  They make monthly prayer calls, do hospital visits and are available for prayer after the Sunday service.

It is an honor to be called upon to be a chaplain.
A chaplain's prayer support is for a year, unless a different length of time is specified.

Want Prayer?

But uncertain about whether to ask for a Chaplain,
or the Prayer Team?

 Maybe this will help ------

If I ask for a Chaplain, I receive:

With a request in the Prayer Team box, I receive:

CONFIDENTIALITY

On Sunday:  A one-time, face-to-face, prayer time with the person who is chaplain-of-the-day.  This person will listen to my concerns, then pray with me.  (I don't have to have a full-time chaplain if I ask for prayer on a Sunday unless I want that)

On-going:  If I want, I can have a chaplain assigned to me.  This person will talk with me about my concerns, and then pray for me daily during the coming year.

Once a month my chaplain will phone me for a check-in.  We'll talk again about my concerns so I can tell my chaplain about answered prayer and any new challenges.

Personal, one-on-one, attention.

My chaplain will see me as I really am, a Perfect, Whole, Complete Child of God, and hold that for me even at times when I may forget.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Each time I put a request in the box, I will be prayed for by the Unity of Charlotte Prayer Team for two weeks.  Only the Team Leader will see my request; the team members will be given my first name only.  (The Prayer Team leader prepares an affirmative statement that summarizes the concerns expressed in the requests for the week and the Team all use that statement as they pray for me and the others who have asked for prayer.)

If I ask for it, I can receive a letter with an affirmation related to my request, and if I ask, my request will be sent on to Silent Unity for 30 more days of prayer.

If I wish, I can make a request without giving my name; I can remain anonymous.

The Prayer Team holds me in their consciousness as I really am - a Perfect, Whole, Complete Child of God - as they pray for me

Whether you ask for prayer with a Chaplain or through the Prayer Team, you can give back to the person or team who prayed with/for you by reporting how your needs were met, and your prayers answered.  (Tell your chaplain, put a note in the Prayer Box or Chaplain Box, or call the prayer line. This can be anonymous if you wish)  One of the wonderful things they receive is hearing the exciting, or quiet, stories of how prayer worked for you.

Put your request in the appropriate box, or call the church office - 704-523-0062 - and leave a message, specifying whether you want a chaplain or the prayer team.

You can have the prayers of people who care!

  • Supports you on your spiritual journey

  • Creates and holds sacred space with you

  • Listens to you and holds what is heard in strictest confidence

  • Prays with you

The commitment of chaplain is to read the Daily Word selection during Sunday services, our chaplains are available to pray with those who request it following the service each Sunday. They welcome the opportunity to support members of the church family in times of need or distress, and are delighted to join in celebratory prayer when life is going exceptionally well for you. Chaplains hold you in their hearts as well as their prayers, and all you tell them is kept in strictest confidence.

Chaplains also make hospital and home visits when this is requested; and are available to any congregant who asks to have his/her own chaplain for a year. Those who ask for this service receive a get-acquainted call and daily prayer, along with a monthly check-in call.

Requests can be placed in the box near Rev. Nancy Ennis’ office at Unity of Charlotte, or you can call the chaplain line, 704-523-0062.
