Hands-on Healing

Remarkable display of plasma energy between two hands.

Everyone has a favorite and personal way of ministering to sickness. The good news is that as long as you’re applying healing principles, any style can be used. Do what feels good to you. Who is qualified to heal the sick? Anybody... with permission. You don’t even need to physically touch. That’s a pretty simple healing method. There’s Great Power in Your Hands! “Laying on of hands” doesn’t require lengthy prayers. If you’re going to engage in the laying on of hands or even distance healing, understand that you are using Divine Healing. It’s not you; it’s the Universe.

The person you’re laying hands on doesn’t have to believe and no one needs to be exempt from receiving any healing. Perfection is not a prerequisite to receive a healing; it already exists. You are invited to live a life—free from sickness. You are invited to welcome wholeness into your life.

How does healing take place? Mark 1:40-42 Jesus simply “touched” the leper. Mark 5:35-42, Jesus simply took the hand of a twelve-year-old girl. Few words were spoken. Mark 7:32-35 is yet another example of Jesus “touching” someone who needed healing, this time a man who was deaf and mute. Jesus put His fingers in the man’s ears and spoke one word “Ethpatakh” (Be opened). That same power is available to everyone today!

Your hands are an important tool for healing; realize the importance of a “touch.” Touching a child almost always stops crying. The touch means that everything is going to be okay. There’s great power in a simple touch! Even with few words, a little touch can speak volumes in people’s lives. It tells them you understand their grief, and want to see their situation changed.

Sometimes the healing is a progression that comes over time. Sometimes a healing may not be visible on the outside. Even if there’s no immediate change, keep the healing going. In Mark 16:18 the latter part of that verse says, “...they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Focus on the words “will recover.” In the Greek text, the words “will recover” are translated like this: “They will begin to amend from that moment forward!” The very moment hands are on a person, healing virtue is transferred into their body, and from that precise moment divine healing is at work in the body. The healing may be apparent right away, or it may be realized in a few hours, days, or weeks. But, it will happen! Don’t be fooled into thinking nothing has happened. With the laying on of hands, miracles are instantaneous, but healing can be a process that will be confirmed in the very near future. Whether or not you can “see” any difference immediately, is irrelevant. The process of healing has begun… the moment you touched them!

Questions:

Must physical touching take place? No. Reiki is a system of healing that hovers the hands about one inch away.

Can healing be done from a distance? Yes, any distance.

Can a person heal themselves? Yes.

Must both hands be used? It doesn’t matter.

What is most important? The key is the intent of the healer and the acceptance by the person to be healed.
