Head to Heart

Sculpture of a red heart and a blue heart intertwined.

From "Heal Your Body" by Louise L Hay

Students of metaphysics are often encouraged during meditation to move from their head to their heart. The intent may be that they could move from thinking too much, towards feeling receptive and listening to Spirit. Moving from the head to the heart might be quite a trip for some of us. It's not that it's a far distance physically but there are many things that that can be involved with actually visualizing, at least mentally, from the head to the heart. This trip is similar to any trip—physical or not. Let’s use our spine as the highway and as a guide to some stops along the way. Here they are:

The Road Map:

The vertebrae is our highway. We stop along the way to consider the energy and effects of where we are. Enjoy your thoughts and feelings as you journey. Start at the top of your head.

Technical note: C locations are in the cervical spine—the neck area; T locations are in the thoracic spine—the upper back area.

After leaving the upper brain and possibly visiting the cerebellum, the pineal gland, the lizard brain, the teeth, the jaw and more, we arrive at:

Location #1C: (The first vertebra below the skull.) This area is the gatekeeper of the blood supply to the head, the pituitary gland, the scalp, the face and the inner and middle ears. Spiritually: All good is mine now. I am centered in calm and balance. I trust my higher self, and all is well.

Location #2C: Here is the connection to the eyes, the optic nerves, the auditory nerves, the sinuses, the tongue and forehead. Imagine: My heart forgives and releases. It is safe to love myself. It is safe for me to know and to grow.

Location #3C: Here is supply to the ears, the face and teeth. I am responsible for myself and I rejoice in myself.

Location #4C: Here is the connection to the nose, lips and mouth. I accept my sustenance here.

Location #5C: I attend to my vocal cords and neck glands. My voice is clear. I sing. I accept my good. I am loved and I am safe.

Location #6C: Here are my neck and shoulder muscles. I lovingly release others to their own lessons. I lovingly care for myself and move with ease through life.

Location #7C: Here is the thyroid gland, shoulders and elbows. I forgive the past. I know who I am and I reach out to others with love.

Location #1T: Here is the connection with the lower arms, hands, wrists and fingers. I accept life and take it in easily. All good is mine.

Location #2T: This is the thymus and upper heart area. My heart has a regular and a relaxing rhythm. I achieve inner peace.

Location #3T: Here are the lungs, the chest and the lower heart. I forgive everyone. I breathe clear fresh oxygen—evenly and comfortably.

Posture Check: Pull your shoulders back, tuck your chin, open your chest. Abide at the bottom of your heart. We are relaxed and have enjoyed the trip. We are “in-person” and ready for a wonderful and uplifting Unity message at our church meetings.
