Affirmations: Claiming Your Truth Within
An affirmation is a statement of spiritual truth. When we affirm, we consciously claim and appropriate that which is already ours in divine reality. Affirmations awaken us to TRUTH. They lift our awareness from the realm of appearances into the steady, luminous consciousness of Spirit. Through affirmation, we remember who we really are and align ourselves with the divine pattern of wholeness, love, and order. Affirmations are simple, natural statements of TRUTH arising from the heart and mind.
Affirmations, used as prayer, have both remedial and transformative effects. They help adjust conditions by aligning our awareness with the great universal Spirit of God—as Love, Wisdom, Justice, and Order. When we speak our truth with spiritual authority, our thoughts are guided, our emotions are steadied, and our actions become clear and constructive.
An affirmation is the YES action of the mind—the mental movement that confidently and persistently asserts the TRUTH of being. When we affirm, we speak about what we desire and intend to manifest with spiritual assurance. We know again that divine life is present and active within us. Changing previous thoughts leaves room for TRUTH.
Clear your mind when you realize you wish to. This process is made calmly, with the intention of clearing. Perform the mental act of releasing, relinquishing, or erasing a belief. It is a gentle clearing away—like sweeping cobwebs from a window so the light may enter clearly. Most enjoyable, physical hobbies of repetitiveness help accomplish this. Chants also clear the mind, and are effective with more focus. (Constant internet input fills the mind with thoughts without choosing those thoughts.)
Once the mind is cleared, we boldly lay hold of TRUTH. When we are poised in divine mind, we intuitively know when to embrace a new thought. This knowing restores our mind to its natural clarity and opens us to the ever‑increasing supply of good.
Affirmations turn our attention toward confidence, TRUTH, and divine possibility. As we affirm God’s presence in all things, we simply awaken to the life, love, and wisdom that have always been ours. Affirmations are constructive, life‑giving, and centered on God. Every word contributes to its creative power. Choose words that uplift, expand, and bless. Keep in your mind that affirmative prayer is the practice of remembering God in me.
Unity’s #1 Affirmation: “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.”
Unity’s #2 Affirmation: “The light of God surrounds us. The love of God enfolds us.”
